“Muted colors, soft lines, and mysterious, undefined depths” are not the usual phrases a photographer uses to describe her photographs. And “texture” is an uncommon word for the art of photography. But these are exactly the words Jamie uses for the vision she strives to create in her photographic art.

From her first camera 30 years ago through her college education in photography and now after her transition into the digital world, she pursues the joy of creating images that draw viewers deep inside. She often finds inspiration in simple horizons and open skies. Perhaps they lead her to an old barn or to a lonely tree in the distance. A story begins to suggest itself, settling into the picture’s title to resonate in viewers’ minds.

All of Jamie’s images begin with a digital photograph. She layers additional photographs over this base image, playing gently with each layer, so that her finished work is only slightly different from a traditional photograph. She capture slices of time and shows the magic possible within a minimally altered reality. Her photographs lean into art.
